A Prayer for the Crown-Shy (Monk & Robot, #2)The first novella of this series was a delight and this one be more of the same.  Mosscap the  robot and Sibling Dex are traveling towards the city to help answer the robots’ question of what humanity needs.  This is a slice of life where ye watch Mosscap meet folk in the various villages and ye delve more into the relationship of Mosscap and Dex.  Mosscap continues to be a pure delight and I loved watching him learn and reflect.  Dex is the subtler of the two but no less wonderful.  The ending was lovely.  This read is a quick, quiet reflection that brings cozy feelings and comfort.  Loved it.  I hope we get another of their adventures.  Arrr!

Here be the crew’s thoughts:

Matey Nicole’s review says – “And then, when this one came out, I dropped the other books I was reading so that I could enjoy this one immediately. I was not disappointed. This was the exact balm I needed right now.”

Matey Tammy’s review says – “At one point Mosscap realizes one of its internal parts has broken, and there is a wonderful exchange among several of the characters about the best way to fix it. It’s moments like this that make the story so special, because the reader is forced to think differently. I love when an author nudges me to step back and see another side to a problem, one that I would never contemplate on my own.”

Goodreads has this to say about the novel:

After touring the rural areas of Panga, Sibling Dex (a Tea Monk of some renown) and Mosscap (a robot sent on a quest to determine what humanity really needs) turn their attention to the villages and cities of the little moon they call home.

They hope to find the answers they seek, while making new friends, learning new concepts, and experiencing the entropic nature of the universe.

Becky Chambers’s new series continues to ask: in a world where people have what they want, does having more even matter?
